Banana Bread Now

An old ripe banana looking at me,

Like if it could talk -

Make banana bread of me!

So I went with that thought

And got his friend too -

Now the bananas are happy

And my family is too!!!

True Adventures of Five Good Dogs & Two Jealous Donkeys

This is a true adventure ... 
Early this morning as the sun was coming up, I went to the east window to see the beauty - there I saw Kevin and Hector, two jealous donkeys, watching me.  Kevin must have thought I looked at Hector first so he started to hee haw!  Hector must have thought that Kevin was loud so he tried to be louder.  Now, I know that I don't have any real idea what goes on in their minds but I have lived with them on the farm for many years and there really is no other explanation for their behavior - they get jealous every day!
Not long after Kevin and Hector made such a fuss, the five good dogs woke up ...  Hunter, the oldest of them all, poked his nose out of the dog house and plopped down in front of it ... like he just wasn't quite ready to get up!  Have you ever felt like that?    
Baby, the next oldest, and only girl of the bunch, woke up too but Hunter was blocking the door of the dog house so she just walked on him like the big, fluffy, yellow rug he looks like!  
Frodo, Spot, and Tug, three young brothers, love to watch what ever Baby does - she is not in a fence like they are. They have to be in a big fence because they might chase cows and we have lots of cows around us.  They have a big dog house made out of logs and they get walked every day!  They love that!
When they heard Kevin and Hector hee haw and when they saw Hunter and Baby up ... Frodo, Spot, and Tug got very excited!  When they get excited things really get going on the farm!  I have never seen any animals as happy as these three brothers are!  They just get happy by waking up!  
Hunter strolled over to the fence and let them sniff him, Baby pranced around and chased a bug ... showing off I think.  I know, I can't be sure why she did it but once again, I've lived with her a long, long time here on the farm ...  I've learned her ways and if she were a person it would truly be showing off ;) 
Now that the two jealous donkeys and the five good dogs are all up ... what will they do all day?

Grandma's House ...

Little Mouse Story...

Hi my precious grandkids!
Grandma's got a story that I think you'll like!
Grandpa and your Uncle Jesse and Uncle Jake were fixing something on the living room floor... I was watching them when right across the floor a little mouse was dragging a mouse trap by his tail!  He was really trying to get someone's attention!  "Hey, could you help me out!  I'm kinda caught on this thing and I need you to help me! He pulled it up and down the floor and looked at me then looked at Grandpa then at your uncles. Grandma almost jumped and screamed but he was so cute I just watched him.  Finally he stopped and looked so serious..."would any of you just reach down here please and let me loose?"  We all said, "Jesse will!" So Uncle Jesse helped him and took him on outside so he could go be with the rest of his family.   This little picture is how he looked as he thanked Uncle Jesse for being so kind! 
I just thought that you would like that story!
     We have three big puppies now... Tug, Spot and Frodo.  Grandma will tell you about them real soon!

Where's That Ball?

What's going on Grandma?
Today while Uncle Jesse and Uncle Jake were in History class Hector and Kevin started Hee Hawing and we went outside to see what they were excited about!  We found the brown horse came back and was talking to Hector face to face!  The brown horse wanted the orange ball!  Hector said that Jake took it in the house and was not ever going to let him have it!  Kevin wanted to fuss with the brown horse for being in our yard but Hector wanted to be the one to tell him to leave!  The brown horse put his ears back to show he was tough and Hector put his up higher to show he was tougher!  It must have scared the brown horse because he took off running back home really fast!  Hector laughed and so did Kevin!  Then they Hee Hawed really loud and kinda danced around!
Hunter and Baby danced around too!  Grandma danced around too!  Uncle Jesse and Uncle Jake were happy they got to get a break from school for awhile but they didn't dance around!  If they ever do dance around I'll take their picture for sure!  Wouldn't that be funny?  I would say, Hee Haw if I saw that!

I Spy

What's going on Grandma?
Hey kids!  Look who came to see us today!  Four beautiful horses!  Hector and Kevin weren't real sure that they wanted to play with the horses.  They were wanting Hector and Kevin to play I spy!  The horses spied something orange but Hector and Kevin just acted like they didn't hear them!  Finally the big brown horse went to get the orange thing.  It was in the back yard and the horses wanted to play with it.  Kevin did not want to let him because he knew it was Jake's new basketball!   Hector went to help Kevin ... all the horses thought they were stronger and could get the ball away from Kevin!   I thought Kevin was going to sit on it to keep it from the big brown horse!  Anyway- just when it was looking pretty scary for Kevin and Hector a cowboy came after the horses!  He put reigns on them and lead them back to their house!  The big brown one looked back at Kevin and stuck his nose in the air like he wanted to say, "I'll be back later to get that ball!"  Kevin stuck his nose up in the air like he was saying, " Oh, no you won't!"  Then Hector ran beside Kevin and they played ball!  Yes!  Hector and Kevin play ball!  I will show you when you come to see me!  They didn't hurt Jake's ball but they almost did!  I think I will buy them one, just for them!  The horses really just wanted Hector and Kevin to play I spy something orange but they didn't understand that game!   Hunter and baby know that game!

Brush Your Teeth Kevin!

What's going on Grandma?
Grandma thinks she might stop being so lazy now and tell a story!
This morning I walked up to the fence and found Kevin and Hector talking to each other!
Kevin was talking right up close to Hector and wouldn't move his face out of Hector's face!
Hector tried to hold his breath because Kevin has not brushed his teeth in a long, long time!  
After I took a picture of that Hector ran and ran to get away from Kevin!  Kevin ran after him laughing, like donkeys do!  It was so funny!  Finally Hector stopped running because he remembered that he hasn't brushed his teeth in a long, long time either!  He thought- just maybe, his teeth needed to be cleaner too!
Maybe I'll get them each a toothbrush for Christmas!  
Baby, Hunter and Snowball do not want to get a toothbrush for a gift!  They don't even want to talk about this!  Whooey Who, Bossy, Mr Hoppy Toad and Joe Joe think maybe mouth wash would be good for them!  They don't have teeth!  Do they????  
Well that is Grandma's story for the day!  Hope you like it!

Lazy Grandma :)

What is going on with Grandma?  Grandma is getting lazy telling about things! This bear looks lazy too! So many things go on but I just don't get to the computer to write them!  I am getting excited about seeing you all soon!  Then we will see all of the animals and play with them!   It has been cold here and math has kept your uncles real busy!  Me too!  Grandpa works hard and likes to watch ballgames at night, Uncle Jesse watches them with him.
Uncle Jake snacks a lot and plays & plays!  He is never bored!  Me either!
All of the animals are being very good and getting lots to eat.  Joe Joe is so happy about the dog food - Hunter, Lady and Baby are just letting him sneak it while they nap!   Bossy and Whooey Who are happy about it getting warmer.  Hector and Kevin eat and play all day!  
Jack is a jackrabbit - did you know that? That means he can jump real high and fast because he has longer legs than regular rabbits!   Mommy can tell you about that.  God made so many animals!  What is your favorite animal?  My favorite is ...
Well I can't say-  I like almost all of them!
Mr. Hoppy Toad is still not out yet.  Still no rain.  He will be up soon.  I am ready to see him- I like him a lot!
Ok- Grandma better go fold some clothes- and fix everyone a snack.

Jack The Rabbit

What's going on Grandma?
Here is Jack the rabbit!  He is being real still so Hunter won't see him.  Hunter and Baby like to chase him and Jack gets tired so he hides down by the old barn.   Jack can be still for a real long time!  He almost looks like my rabbit statue I have in the back yard!  But Jack is very real and very fast when he runs!  Hunter and Baby can't catch him and Lady doesn't even try!  Whooey Who just watches Jack and says Who Who sometimes!   Bossy thinks Jack's ears are kinda cool because the stick up so high!  Like a spiky hair doo!   Joe Joe has seen Jack lots of times- Jack has scared him before when he was sneaking dog food!   Hector and Kevin let Jack eat hay with them for a little while but when he eats too much they kick him a little to get him to go back to his own home.  Mr. Hoppy Toad has not come out of the ground yet - I think he will as soon as it rains and softens the dirt!  Maybe I am wrong but I think I am right!  Grandpa says that Jack better stay out of his garden!  I know that Jack will be very hungry for the vegetables in Grandpa's garden so I am going to make him a garden he can eat in- I think I will plant him some cabbage and carrots!   Hunter and Baby will like Jack coming close to the house so they can chase him across the field!  It is so funny to see Hunter, Baby, Hector and Kevin all run at the same time!
Guess who wins?  Did you say Hunter?  Jack is faster than Hunter is!  You will have to see that!  
Now Grandma is going to get ready for bed.  I walked with the animals for over an hour tonight!
We had lots of fun!  I miss you all but I will see you soon!  ;)

Monkey Around?

What's going on Grandma?
I was looking for a picture and look what I found!  Two little monkeys!  
One is playing a trick on the other one!  Uncle Jesse and Uncle Jake laughed about it and thought I should send you the picture!  Grandpa said I should too!   I bet Mommy will laugh!
I hope you like it!   Maybe you can play that trick on someone!  Grandpa and his brothers do that trick a lot!  It is funny!
I wonder what Hector and Kevin would think of the monkeys?  They have never seen a monkey-
none of the farm animals have!  I think they would laugh at them!  Hector and Kevin would let them ride on them!  Wouldn't that be fun!  Hunter, Lady and Baby would try to get them to give them a snack but I don't think the monkeys would do that!  They would probably eat the snacks!  Monkeys like snacks too!
Whooey Who would probably say something wise to them and they would scratch their heads and wonder what he said!   Bossy would be giving them a spiky hair doo!  That would be cute!
Mr. Hoppy Toad would maybe run and hide!   Joe Joe would sneak dog food while the monkeys showed off!   That is what I think they would all do!  What would you do if you were with these monkeys?   Grandma would try to dress them in clothes!  Remember, I like to dress animals-  I really do!
Grandpa just fixed us all some popcorn so I better go eat some!  Grandpa will fix you some when you come!  We will have fun!

All Friends!

What's going on Grandma?
Look at this group of friends!  They all like each other  and play good together!
I thought you would like to see a picture of them.   Floppy the rabbit, Squeeky the mouse, Buttons the kitty and Patches the puppy!  Aren't they so cute!

Ok!  Grandma's back!  We went to Uncle Jake's basketball game!   It was a very exciting game and Jake's team won!  Uncle Jake did real good!  Uncle Jesse will play again real soon!
So fun to watch them- Grandpa gets so happy about the games- I do too!  
Let's talk about the little group of friends in the picture.  What do you think they are doing?
I am trying to guess but I can't figure it out!   Maybe they are a little pet zoo.  Maybe they are in a commercial for white things!  Maybe they all just got on the porch and lined up to get their picture taken and little Patches, the puppy, fell asleep waiting!   Maybe Buttons the kitty is trying to see what Squeeky the mouse is eating.   Maybe Floppy the rabbit is thinking about hopping off the porch and eating a carrot!   I think they all got a bath and are drying off in the sun!  What do you think they are doing? 
Grandma wants to know what you think!
Hunter, Lady and Baby came running to the car when we got home tonight- We went to Sonic and got onion rings and they smelled them!   Now I have to get them a snack too!   The wind is blowing so all the other animals are snuggled up and sleeping.  
Grandpa says we all need to get to bed - we will listen to him!  We are tired!

Peek a Boo!

What's going on Grandma?
Look at the kitty hiding in the bucket!  How sweet!  I wish we could have her.  I thought I would send you her picture.  Her name is Peek a Boo!  She sticks out her tongue when she wants her milk- what would Mommy do if you stuck out your tongue when you want milk?   If you try it let me know what she does!   Lady does that sometimes when she wants a cookie.  Mr Hoppy Toad catches his bugs with his tongue!  This little kitty's tongue is so cute!  She is winking at the camera- I don't think she is shy!  I think she is funny and cute and I wish I had her!
All the animals are asleep and Grandpa is telling us to get a snack and get to bed early tonight- he is tired.  Uncle Jesse and Uncle Jake are playing a game on the TV- a basketball game!  They have been laughing and shouting for a long time now!  I wonder who is winning?  Sounds like Uncle Jake is - he is laughing the loudest!  
Grandpa is cleaning the kitchen so Grandma can write to you- That's a good Grandpa!  
I made some cookies today so that will be our snack.  I wish you were here to help us eat them!
I hope Lady doesn't smell them!  I will save one for her to have tomorrow.  She will be so happy!  Baby wants your chicken nuggets, she doesn't like cookies.  Hunter acts like he doesn't care what he eats but I know he likes steak the best!  Me too! :)
I better go help Grandpa :)

Sally The Cow

What's going on Grandma?
Sally the cow is smiling really big for you!   She lives down by the barn that Whooey Who  stays in for the winter.  She likes the camera, you can tell!  Big smile for my grandkids, Sally! 
 Good girl!
I can sing songs to her and all her friends and they just stand there and smile at me!
They like the song Jesus loves me- the best!   I want to pet Sally but she thinks I better not!  Why does she think I better not?  Who told her I better not?  I tell her that I think I better but she still thinks I better not!  I better keep trying and maybe one day she will think I better pet her too!  
The wind is blowing real hard today.  The animals are all laying around until it stops blowing so hard!
Bossey is ducking his head to stay out of the wind but I see his spikey hair sticking up!
Whooey Who is down the road by Sally and he is taking a nap!
Hunter, Lady and Baby are snuggled up together on the back porch and they didn't see Joe Joe get a piece of dog food!  Somebody saw him!  Guess who!
Goldie thinks I haven't told you about his new trick- so I better tell you!  He took a bath in a big bowl and he couldn't see out the sides because it wasn't a glass bowl- he got upset and Grandpa had to calm him down!  He had never been in a place he could not see out of before and he did not like it!  When he was upset about it- he learned some new moves!  He can hop up and down!  Now Goldie thinks he should be in the circus or somewhere to show off!  Uncle Jake thinks he should just be his very own fish and stay here with us!  Goldie wants to show off for you when you come!
Hector and Kevin are standing with their faces in the wind and their long ears are blowing backwards!  So cute!  They are smiling!  Did I tell you that Sally the cow is their friend?  She is!  They go to her yard and see her every day!  They smile at each other!   I am smiling at you right now!  Are you smiling at me too?  I hope so!

Cute But Stinky

What's going on Grandma?
Whooey Who has a barn friend!  See the little skunk, she was trying to be real still but Hunter, Lady and Baby know all about skunks!  They wanted to be sure that I was warned!  Skunks spray a real stinky odor!  Real, real stinky!  Worse than anything you have ever smelled!  We smell bad things so often on the farm that we almost think some smell actually smell good to us!  But not skunk spray!  No way!
Hector and Kevin will help the little skunk get back to her family.  They will keep Hunter, Lady and Baby out of the barn yard until she can run.  They don't want to hurt her they are just barking and she won't move until they leave!  I think Whooey Who is friends with her.  I think they both like to eat stuff that is in the barn!   Bossey wants her to spike her hair but he can't get her to hear him because of all the barking!   
Joe Joe might try to put a white stripe down his back too if he sees her!  Wouldn't that be funny?
Mr Hoppy Toad's house is not to far from the barn so he might be wondering what all the barking is about!  I'll tell him when it gets warmer and he comes out!  
Time to feed Grandpa and your uncles!  I know what to have this time!  A pot of beans and lots of cornbread and a stinky onion!   Do you like onions?  I do!   
We had a stinky story, didn't we?  We haven't had a stinky story yet!  That was fun unless I go back outside and the little skunk sprayed Hunter!  She will if he doesn't listen to Hector and Kevin and stop barking!  Wait!  I don't hear the barking anymore!  There she goes!  Run little girl, run!  She made it and Hector and Kevin did it!  They kept Hunter, Lady and Baby busy for a while!   That was a nice ending to an almost stinky story!   
I better fix supper now!

Happy Down The Road

What's going on Grandma?
Look at little Happy the goat!  She is smiling and so sweet!  Happy has lots of brothers and sisters!  She wanted to smile for you!  One day I will take you to see her and all her family!  I think you have seen lots of goats at the petting zoo's- Did you like them?  I sure do!  I thought this was a great picture and wanted you to be happy when you looked at her!  
Grandma has to be in a hurry right now because I have been real busy with your Uncles and all of the farm animals!   Grandpa will be home soon for his supper and he will be hungry!  I still don't know what to feed everyone!   Lady thinks I should fix hamburgers, cookies and milk for supper, Hunter thinks I should fix steak, Baby thinks chicken nuggets, Joe Joe thinks dog food!  Yuk!  Bossy thinks a worm or seeds and Whooey Who thinks maybe I could find something in the barn to eat!  Goldie thinks - goldfish crackers!
Hector and Kevin think I should fix something with hay in it!  I don't think so guys!  Can you just see Grandpa sitting down to a plate of hay?   No way!!   And we all know Mr Hoppy Toad thinks I should fix flies for supper!  Sometimes in the summer I might accidentally eat a fly but not on purpose!  
Wow!  Grandma is getting real hungry now!  I think I will fix what Lady said!  Hamburgers!  She will be hoping that Uncle Jake won't eat all of his!  Maybe I will save her some of mine!  Of course everyone will have to get their favorite snack later!   
I better get busy!  Hope you liked the picture of Happy the goat!

Animals Pray

What's going on Grandma?
Isn't this doggie praying, with his boy, so cute?
I was looking for a picture to use in my story and I found this one!  I love it!  I was praying with Lady last fall and I saw her doing something just like this!  I can't stop looking at the doggie- he is so sweet looking.  Wonder what he is praying for?  The little boy is probably praying for his mommy and daddy and his brother or sister and he is surly praying for his Grandma! :)  But I wonder what the doggie is praying for?  A big bone to chew on?  What do you think?   I want to go outside and pray with Hunter, Lady and Baby!  Wait just a minute and I will go out and pray with them- I will be right back!
Ok!  Grandma is back!  That was so fun!   I prayed with them and they were so happy about it!  Hector and Kevin heard me pray and they wanted me to pray with them too!  We all thanked God real good!
Lady wanted to lick my face while she prayed with me!  Hunter was real still and Baby did a happy dance while she prayed!  Have you ever done a happy dance while you pray? 
 Grandma does that a lot!
Hector and Kevin put their heads together while they prayed!  So cute!  I still like how the doggie in the picture prayed with his eyes closed and looking so thankful for all his blessings!  Hey!  I think that's what he was praying!  He was thanking God for his boy!   
Uncle Jesse and Uncle Jake worked real hard after school.  Uncle Jesse cleaned the barn for Hector and Kevin- they were happy about that!   Uncle Jake - well I am not sure what he did!  Maybe he played ball and worked on his skateboard moves!  
Grandpa is resting in his chair because he worked on the garden spot after he sold furniture today! 
Grandma walked five miles today!  I walked outside too!  I saw Whooey Who on a pole down by the barn!  I didn't see Bossy but I heard him!  I think someone else will have spikey hair soon!  He was really telling someone something and we know his favorite subject!  Spikey hair!!
Mr Hoppy Toad will be out soon if it stays warm- he better wait a little longer!  His new roof fell down again so Grandpa will have to make him a teepee house!  I will send you a picture when he gets it done!
Goldie wants another bath!  He needs one too!
Joe Joe came by today and took a bath and got some dog food!  He is fast!  Hunter didn't even see him do it and he was laying right beside the food!  
Did Grandma forget anyone?  
I will look at the doggie praying again and then I will go to bed!   Hope you liked the picture too!!

Lady Buggies

What's going on Grandma?
Grandma found lots of lady buggies!  All different colors like a box of crayons!  Which color is your Lady Buggie?   I like the blue one the best!  They are all so pretty!  I didn't know they came in blue and purple!   Did you?
I better tell you about Hector and Kevin!  They have been so happy for the warm day we had- running and acting so silly!  Donkeys are so fun to watch!  We see people drive real slow down our road just to stare at them.  When they do Hector and Kevin put a show on for them!   They put their mouths together and hew haw in each others mouth!  We would say yuk if someone did that to us but they think it is fun!  
Hunter, Lady and Baby are happy for the warm day too!  They brought back a big old bone from somewhere and they are so proud of it!  Hunter will carry it for a while and then Lady and then Baby tries to take a turn but the bone is too big for her!   
So funny!
Whooey Who came back yesterday!  He has gotten bigger!  So handsome!
Bossey dropped something out of his nest!  I wonder what it was!  I didn't go see yet.
Joe Joe is still sneaking dog food when the dogs go to the front porch!   He is getting fat!  
Mr. Hoppy Toad hasn't tried to come out again- he is waiting on real spring!
Goldie gets lots of bathes and does lots of tricks for us!  Hide and seek is his favorite!  
Uncle Jesse and Uncle Jake are still playing basketball and they are very good!  You would like to see them!  They would show off for you!  They like to do that!
Grandpa is in his chair watching a ballgame on TV - we are going to get a snack and then go to bed!
Oh, no!  Baby is checking to see if we have a chicken nugget for her!  She likes to sneak up to the window by the back door and see if I will give her one!  OK, Baby- but just one!  Shhhhh don't wake anyone else up!  
I better go give it to her and get my snack too!

You Tell Me!!

What's going on Grandma?
What is this animal?  Ask Mommy and Daddy!  Is it a gopher?  A ground hog?
He is soooooo cute!  He needs a name!  What should we call him?  
Grandma was looking for a ladybug and found this little guy!  I just had to send you his video!
Is he a chipmunk?   I really am not sure!
Will you tell me a story about what you think he is doing!  I think he is wanting someone to give him one of the balloons!  What do you think?   He can't talk so he might be trying to get your attention!
Look!   Look!  Get me a balloon!
